Flying high, high-flying… It is rather easy to let oneself go in London and experience some of the glamorous life-style which we are being teased with on a daily basis. I am talking about all those offers to enjoy champagne meals in expensive venues or luxury spa breaks, and the continuous references in the media to exclusive clubs and parties.
I find that it sometimes is overwhelming, but it might go on to showing there is a great need to escape from the routine – and the lack of money.
Mind you, such offers might turn out to be less glamorous than expected. Until rather recently, limos were mostly used by the rich. Now, you see regular people coming out of rather cheesy limos every weekend. I find it rather strange that people splash out on limos or Prada shoes to then eat mac´n´cheese for the rest of the month. However, we are all attracted at the idea of experiencing a bit of this from time to time, which is all right.
All these thoughts came rushing through my mind last night, while I was celebrating with friends at two amazing venues with great views of London. One of them is Somerset House. Somerset House is one of those buildings everyone should visit time and time again – exhibitions, events, great architecture, etc.
We were in the faboulous back terrace, overseeing the Thames and South Bank, under a stylish gazebo, dancing to lovely music and drinking champagne. Then, off to one of the highest floors of a hotel in the City, overseeing Tower Bridge, etc. It was wonderful drinking, laughing with friends there. I ignored the fact that I did not belong to such an exclusive atmosphere, and enjoyed my friends´company and the views. After all, one does not enjoy that every day!
See some of the night pics that I have been taking in London over the years. I will update this post over the next couple of days. So, stay tuned for more!
