It´s for Charity


One thing that had quite interested me before I arrived in UK, is this fondness for charity events. That is well documented in movies, where the upper classes may organise expensive black tie dinners to fund various causes.  You know, it´s for charity.

It´s for CharityI find it quite refreshing to see that people of all ages organise charity activities. The so-called `thirdsector´ is a real boost to the economy in UK. According to the Charity Commission, their regulatory body, the over 179,000 charities registered in England and Wales are worth a staggering £53.2 bn in income and £77.7bn in investments.

It´s for CharityThe real number of charities is actually bigger in England and Wales, as their annual income might be under £5,000 and, hence, not required to register. This makes the number of charity events increase – and they need to be marketed. These days, marketing or PR are well-paid and worthwhile careers to consider in UK.

It´s for CharityHave you ever organised or taken part in an event for charity? My experience is limited to buying cakes  on office bake sales or helping to spread the word. Who can resist lovely, home-made cakes for as little as a
