Dilemma: online shopping or shopping day out?

Please help me here! Do you think that the good, old ´girls shopping day out´ will still happen this much a few years down the line?

One of the aspects that I enjoy of London is the great variety of products and shops that can be found easily.  With the advent of transactional sites online, I wondered if shops might not be struggling in some years to keep a steady in-store flow coming in.

Transactional sites are here to stay it seems.  Loads of developments are allowing this   success: more secure payment, the ability to pay using mobile, better customer service, quick delivery, wide range available.

Payment is big thing. Tesco´s and Sainsbury´s online service is generally quite good in that respect. When I was unable to move around about two years ago, Tesco´s made my dayOnline shopping and more cheaply than Sainsbury´s. Offers are often quite good. I can buy a lovely dress from Dorothy Perkins site for a fraction of the money that it would cost me in store. In fact, e-commerce is getting a lot stronger this days, and competition is fierce. You can expect the online presence of brands and companies on different sectors becoming stronger over the coming months.

However, what happens when problems occur? What about other perks of ol´times shopping? For example, windows! Many are bland. Many others are just a creative and innovative artistic and promotional occurrence. I still remember those two Beckham and Posh look-alikes dramatising what it would be a normal morning in the loo for most, getting ready to go to work, in one of the windows at Selfridges or the small chocolate shop (for real) on one of the corner windows in the same mall. 

It does feel strange, though, writing this knowing that sites like Twitter or Facebook are not allowed in countries like Vietnam, and that people need to hack their ways into those systems to have a bit of global fun.

Any ideas here?
